THE SONG THAT BECAME A WAY OF LIFE

Jayden Moorea didn’t just write and produce this feel-good anthem. It’s his philosophy.

The song was originally written in 1999, but over the past decade it has become Jayden’s mantra. And thank God it did. Because his life has been upended in ways that might break most people.

In 2013, Jayden witnessed his partner take her own life. What followed was another decade of extraordinary upheaval. He says he was subjected to financial disputes, accusations, defamation and a campaign alleging that he was responsible for his partner’s death. Then, in 2019, Jayden was charged with her murder.

After years of legal proceedings, the prosecution ultimately did not result in a murder conviction, but the process cost Jayden almost $500,000 and consumed years of his life. Yet somehow, he emerged from it not defeated, but stronger, wiser and with a song that had taken on an entirely new meaning.

Win or Lose isn’t just a catchy song title. It’s a way of life.

Life is going to knock you down. It’s going to hurt you. It’s going to make you want to give up.

But one thing remains yours, no matter what happens:

the choice of how you respond.

You can lose.

Or you can find a way to win.

Win or Lose.

song lyrics

[verse 1]

From today, draw a line in the sand, It’s time, for you to take a stand.
It’ll all turn out right, with your grief as your guiding light.
Nothing in this world ever comes easily, but we’ll rock it for eternity.
Cause positivity is what we choose, and now we’re bringing it all to you.

[chorus]

Take a chance and you will see
It’s time to re-create reality
You know that you can choose
Whether you win or you lose.

[verse 2]

Through life, things will surely get rough, but never give up, that’s a must
If you don’t your dreams will come true. What you wish for will shine on through
Never lose sight of your goals. See the big picture as a whole.
There’s just one secret to success. That is always give it your best

[chorus]

Take a chance and you will see
It’s time to re-create reality
You know that you can choose
Whether you win or you lose.

[middle 8]

Let the storm rage on, it won’t defeat
With the fire inside, you can rise to your feet
Every challenge faced, a lesson to meet
You’re the hero, take a seat

[chorus x 2]

the story behind "win or lose"

Originally written and recorded in 1999, Win or Lose has seen many variations of the song since it’s original format. The song was originally recorded for my boyband “5th Gear”, then re-adapted for my duo, before being recorded on my demo album in 2003 with Australian musicians Rick Hollis, Damien Barnard and bothers Dane and Jason Brown from Sunk Loto.

–

In 2025 I reimagined the track as a female anthem for my musical movie “For Eternity” before finally re-styling the song in it’s current form.

–

Regardless of the style, the song has always been an uplifting anthem about how we have the choice in life as to how things turn out.

–

I’ve always been a very positive person and having read over 2,000 books on personal development, religion and spirituality, this reiterated my belief that no matter what happens, we have the choice as to whether or not we “Win or Lose”
